Little Boy Blue
This has been an eventful week for our family.
On Friday, my sister had her final chemotherapy infusion. I can't believe we're at the end of the sixteen weeks that we thought would take forever to pass. Now we're on the countdown to her final surgery.
It looks as though her hair might come in red when it starts growing back in (!) What a hoot! It will be interesting to see what it looks like in a few months.
Speaking of redheads - my brother and his lovely wife welcomed their first baby on Saturday morning. He's also my first nephew, and we are all just tickled. He's the spitting image of my brother as a baby, except we think he's got his mama's eyes. And maybe, just maybe, he'll be a redhead. We can't wait to see.
Maybe we should start a betting pool based on the color of the my sister's hair and the baby's hair. Heck, we can even have them race to grow hair. That could be fun. I'll make some charts. Who wants in?
Yesterday, we got to chat with the new little family and see the prodigal son on Skype, which was quite a treat. I mean, with the lousy connection, we had lots of fits and starts and audio glitches, and you add to that the fact that both aunties, all three cousins and both grandparents were all talking at the same time and pushing each other out of camera range and I'm sure my brother and sister-in-law were totally overwhelmed. But that baby - hoo boy, that is one cute baby. August can't come soon enough - as I'm hoping to tag a few extra days onto my BlogHer trip to visit with them.
My parents and sister are heading to CT next week, and will be attempting to bottle that new baby smell for me. Right guys? RIGHT?
We're on the final approach now - summer starts in T minus 3 days - which is really 2 1/2 days, because the final day is Field Day. To my understanding, there are lots of different events to choose from, but my kids generally choose the ones that require no effort. I guess I should try to get them hyped for the competition, but perhaps we will take a page out of the Fluid Pudding Family Playbook.
