Scene from a lazy holiday weekend
My son is standing in the middle of the living room, playing a new Wii game that he asked for this Christmas.
Actually, scratch that - the boy is in constant motion. I know that the popular notion of kids playing video games is the glassy-eyed couch potato, but that is not the case at our house.
The funny thing? This isn't one of those games that requires you to be up and moving like Wii Sports or whatever. This is Pokemon Rumble, a game that could easily be played from a sitting position - or even a lounging position.
My son, however, is on his feet alternately jumping up and down, doing some motion that looks an awful lot like Irish step dancing and then swinging his legs out to the side. Oh wait, he's running in place now.
He's interspersing all this with bursts of trivia. "Hey mom, did you know that the ______ is a fire type?"
And now he's doing a side to side sashay with a hop. What a hoot!

I read this and have to say my son is the same way. Even when he is playing a sit still game, he is standing and hopping left to right and doing an occasional leg kick. He does the "running man" too. He also does some rambling song he makes up about the game he's playing. Reading this entry was like reading about my own son! If I played video games like he does.. I'd loose that 10 lbs I've wanted to shed in no time!
