Not As Productive As Planned

The kids have taken to sneaking back into our bed in the middle of the night. No particular reason, say the kids, when asked why. They tell me they don't get enough time to snuggle me during the day.

Rather than feel guilty, I mutter unprintable things under my breath about attachment parents, myself included, and vow to install something along the lines of this on my bedroom door. When my house is 85 degrees at 1 am, I do NOT want three giant children trying to get all up in my breathing space.

After my husband woke up the family on his way out to a 6 am tee time (thanks, honey!) I got up, answered some work email, drank some decaf, stared at the wall, and took a shower. Then I stared at the wall some more.

Answered a few more emails. Discovered the kids on the tail end of another project, this one of their own design. It involved opening a package of oreo cookies, eating all the filling, and placing the naked, licked cookies back into the plastic tray. (Hello, Googling Perverts!)

While I admire the singlemindedness it takes to eat the filling from an entire package of oreos, that's just gross. And they didn't ask permission. (Because I would have said NO.)

After sending the kids to brush their teeth and eating a bowl of shredded wheat, I decided what we really needed was a trip to the Asian Grocery. I got the kids ready, and grabbed the husband, and off we went, to fill a basket with random dried, salted and strangely labeled delicacies.

And now? All I want to do is nap. I have 9000 things to do, and yet napping is the only thing on my wish list.

Napping. Mmmmm.

Btw, barbed wire around the bed works nicely in keeping kids away!

I like the connection between Oreo filling and the Asian grocery store!??
