Doin' The Neutron Dance
My brain's DJ is serving up the Pointer Sisters this morning. It's just the right manic tempo.
I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! Woooo!
Last week, I received a fantastic gift package (valued at way more than our suggested price) from my awesome Mystery Spoiler. I was thrilled to receive Haunted, by Poe and Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris
. I've got the best spoiler, nyah nah!
Yesterday, my mom and sister took my two oldest to a local swimming hole/pond/lake place and they had a blast. I've been utterly resistant to going to the old swimmin' hole because every year, mid-summer, they close that sucka down because people start complaining about rashes and scabies and flesh-eating bacteria and stuff. My mom says I'm a wuss and informed me that the pond is now chlorinated. Attention Parenting Academy Awards Team: Notice I was perfectly happy to send the kids off to be eaten by rouge pond scum.
Anyhoo, they all had a great time, except for when my son stepped into a hole and couldn't surface on his own, but Grandma saved the day, by sprinting to my suddenly submerged son and hauling his non-floating hiney to the blanket for a little regrouping. Now my son has a sure-fire attention getter to start conversations with: 'I almost drowned!' (This is a gross overstatement of the situation, bless his little dramaking heart.)
I spent the day hanging with my youngest, playing blocks, drinking coffee and doing a few chores at a leisurely pace. I didn't say the word 'No!' or redirect combatants all day. Sigh. It felt really good.
Then! Today is my son's first day of his summer session of preschool. Which means, every Monday and Wednesday for the next six weeks, I have one less child for two hours. Believe me, that little bit of reprieve will be good for all of us.
I've come to the conclusion that I probably need to give up coffee, because I'm having stomach issues. I don't know if I want to, but I should. Maybe I'll start next week. Yeah. Next week. Riiiight.
Happy Monday, everybody! I'll be busy doing the Neutron Dance. Join in, if you dare. (Can you tell it's the return of the busy brain?)

Well how else will kids learn true life lessons if they don't drown a little and get a flesh eating bacteria? See, this is actually a sign of a supermom: confident enough in her kids to allow them to get nibbled on by evil pond creatures, certain they have the intelligence and where-with-all to manage the situation!
Well done, Jenny. I am in awe of your mad parenting skilz!

Oh my, glad everyone is okay! I'm sure your son will embellish his story as time goes on too. hehe Good luck with the coffee, since I quit Mountain Dew a few weeks ago, I've noticed if I do try to drink it (twice), my tummy gets upset. Ah well, it's not good for me anyways.

Switch to tea. Easier on the tummy & you still get your caffeine fix. Gets me thru the day!
Neutron Dance...we did that in show choir in high school. Yeah, I just admitted that. You should have seen the dance. Or maybe it's good you didn't!

What? I mean, really...WHAT? You are thinking about giving up COFFEE? And BEFORE BlogHer? I have met your roommate and I am not sure that will go over very well with her. Seriously! Sure, your stomach hurts, but think of others, Jenny! *big grin*

Yoga helps with the caffeine cravings.
Did Lu tell you that I thought she was you? She straightened me out!
I get skittish about public swimming "holes", too. My mother-in-law has a saying that sort of applies: "If they're meant to drown, they won't hang." ;~)
