News Flash!
We are back in the house! Woooo! I'll post pictures next week, but in the meantime, we've all been doing our best Risky Business sliding.
I have to give a huge shout out to the anonymous person who informed my oldest that Santa uses smoke detectors to keep an eye on kids... apparently, they are a direct link to the infamous magic crystal ball, and since they are pretty much in all buildings, his bases are covered.
Dude, that is the best thing EVER. EVER! My kids are fully paranoid now. Not that they are being good, but still - now I can just dramatically point at the smoke detector and give them the ole hairy eyeball, and they KNOW Santa knows.

Wow, my kids are too old for that now but if I had ONLY known....

And maybe we can add that all the elves are plugged in via the electrical sockets...and that, in fact, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, all of 'em all use the same network. We could get a lot of mileage out of this!

Pure genius! Thank you!
My daughter is now aware of where Santa hides. This morning as she was kicking up a fuss on the way out of the door, I just looked at the smoke alarm and said 'Can you see what she is doing Santa? Can you see?' Suddenly she smiled sweetly, waved at the smoke alarm and said 'Hello Santa!' I almost didn't recognise her for a moment,

My Dad used to tell me there were submarines in the Missouri river; whenever we'd cross the bridge and see something breaking the surface, it was the "periscope." I believed that until I was much to old to believe such things. I now torment my own children in the same way.

OK, so how good is that smoke detector idea? Does is work all year round, you think? I mean, he has to make his list, right?

we use the heat registers. they're in all rooms and A was totally surprised to see them in the ceiling at the Olive Garden. Nothing like a bit of paranoia to get you to sit down and eat your chicken strips con brocolli...

That is an awesome answer! I'm filing that away for a time when I'm a parent!

It is brilliant! But, my littlest already won't go upstair by herself! I can only imagine what she would do if she thought Santa was watching ALL.THE.TIME!

Smoke detectors do look like they are spying; we have so many of them in our house that it's ridiculous. That would have worked for me, but now my girls are too old to buy it.

lmao! That's wrong! I can't believe they would believe something like that.

That is too excellent! Too bad it wouldn't work for a 16 & 14 year old.
