Let's Talk BlogHer 2007

I'm so excited!  I'm going to be moderating a panel on Weight Loss/Body Acceptance bloggers at BlogHer in Chicago!   The panelists are all amazing women - Wendy McClure of Pound, who has my undying affection for her brilliantly funny take on Weight Watchers recipe cards; Yvonne from Joy Unexpected, who cracks me up and makes me cry, often with the same post, and Laurie Toby Edison, whose blog, Body Impolitic, is a keen-eyed look at our society's reaction to perceived imperfections.

What topics do you think we should cover?  Do you have any questions that you would like to see addressed?  How do YOU feel about discussing body image online?

I'd love to bring your questions and comments to the panelists.  Share in the comments below, or email me at bigslicejenny@gmail.com.  Thanks!

You know, I've been thinking about this a lot lately - Now that I have a daughter I'm really conscious of not saddling her w/my own weight nerousis (esp as I watch my oldest son struggle w/some of my doubt and anxiety that he must have been born with - I feel so bad that he got that from me!)

Anyway - I finally realized that the people who I really admire and look the best are the ones that seem to be very confident in their look/body - no matter what their size. The last time I wasn't self conscious about my weight was that year I was a size 4 - and even then I was worried about gaining. Now that I'm 30+lbs past that I struggle between balancing what's really important, my family, and accepting what I can do for myself as enough. I'll never be a size 4 again and heck, maybe getting to the gym once a week is enough - I'm not giving up dinner or soccer or playtime w/my kids for a workout - and maybe I won't give up my nightly glass of wine (but I will give up the second one)

Anyway - sorry to ramble - but you struck a nerve and I enjoy reading your real discussion - but ultimately my question is - Are some people just born comfortable in their skin and if not how do they get there?
