Weekend Throwdown
As our third week of the BigSliceOff comes to a close, I want to each to evaluate how you are doing, and tell me where you are struggling. I know that my own worst enemy, meal planning, has been low on my list of things to do, and I've been making really weird meals out of a really depleted pantry.
And, I've managed to either bruise my left inner ankle, or I have a shin splint going on down there, and either way, it hurts and I'm irritated. You know what I think happened?
Leslie Sansone happened. That's what happened. I have been doing her 4-mile challenge walk DVD every day, and I did it without shoes one day and I think I was getting a little too excited about the whole grapevine option at the very end of the four miles and I either kicked myself or stretched a little too much or something equally stupid.
As far as the DVD goes, though - I really like it. It is low-impact, easy to follow, and goes by quickly (for a 90 minute workout.) Ideally, I would do all my walking outside, but in reality, I have to haul the kids with me most of the time, and they can't keep up the pace I'm needed to walk. This DVD is a good compromise.
I really like that the walkers she features in her videos are fit, but come in all shapes and sizes and ages. I like seeing women who have hips doing what I'm trying to do.
I also gave the Turbo Jam DVD a try, and it damn near killed me. I think I need to work up to that one. Ooh, maybe that's how I wounded my shin. Leslie, you're off the hook this time!
Anyway, get outside this weekend - not for the burn, but for the fresh air and fun of it. Do something that fills you up inside and brings your that happy exhaustion.
As for me, I'm going to be throwing an 8th birthday party for my oldest monkey child, and doing some minor home improvement projects. And then, I'm going to be planning my menus. Fo shizzle.

I LOVE Leslie Sansone! Her one-mile walks are on Comcast OnDemand, and my ten year old son does them with me. I've never attempted 90 minutes though-ouch!
I have a crazy day tomorrow, with one playdate, one birthday party, plus we're getting my Dad's couch so we have to move that into our living room and the old one out, plus I have to watch Chris' friend's two month old son while he helps Chris move the couch! All in one day! Wooo!

Hey, what didn't you like about my dvd? I LOVE those things, even though The Hubster says "I told you so..." every time that I do one.

Wait, who is this woman and why are these DVDs so great? Which one should I buy? I need something new to switch it up.

we're doing great with the meal planning and the working out. dh and I do a routine from 1 minute workouts every night---I am in much better shape than he is. :-)
I have two weeks to go before I'm in a swimsuit.

Right now my biggest struggle is I miss eating out. I'm still in phase 1 of South Beach so I can't eat any breads, pasta, fruit, or whole grains. I'm doing okay living off the lean meat, low-fat cheese and tons of veggies, but I miss going OUT and eating happy hour food with my posse.

I love the Leslie Sansone DVDs too. They seriously changed my life! A couple of years ago when I was feeling fat and out of shape I decided to start working out using DVDs. I gave Leslie's DVDs a try because they looked doable. I used her DVDs and a couple others for about 6 months before I joined a gym and they really got me started on the path to fitness! I have now been working out religiously for 2 years now and I think it's all thanks to Leslie! Her DVDs are great for all fitness levels because they come in different lengths-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mile. I started with the 1 mile and worked my way up to the 3 mile. I never got to the 4 or 5 mile because I didn't have those DVDs. Great series!

Right now, I'm struggling with making the choice. I'm great at making the plan, but there are always a lot of things that I allow to get in the way. I did really well the first and second weeks, but the third week my back was acting up and I wasn't feeling 100%, so I didn't exercise. I also made some bad eating choices. I guess the biggest struggle is to pick it back up right away, not letting a bad choice perpetuate itself.

I've been really struggling with my junk food habit. I'm done with sugar but I can't give up crisps - my last crutch.
Can you do the DVDs on a treadmill?
