The Field Narrows.
Good morning, BigSliceOff-ers! BigSliceOff-ettes? What shall I call you?
Nevermind that for now. I'm going to purify my contestant list this evening. If you sent me a start weight by last Friday, you're good. If you haven't sent me your weight for this week yet, do it today.
If you do not want to participate after all, no worries. I'll be dropping participants who have not checked in after two weeks. (Lots of data entry with this contest. Heh.)
So! I'm still working on my posture. I'm sitting up straight right now, and it doesn't feel natural to me. But I'm keeping at it.
I'm also making myself a goal of doing a yoga DVD every day for the next six days, in addition to my other fitness efforts. I've got 700 of them, so this shouldn't be a challenge. In fact, I challenge each of you to add some yoga to your daily routine. Doesn't have to be a full session. Doesn't have to be official yoga. Take some time to stretch and relax your body while breathing deeply.
If you're interested in doing yoga from a DVD, I personally love all of Rodney Yee's stuff. If you're a beginner, try his AM workout. In fact, let's do this: I'll randomly select a commenter on this post, and mail her the AM/Stress Relief/PM yoga workout DVD.
Oh, yes. One more thing - gimme 50 calf raises (hold onto your desk and go up onto the balls of your feet and then back down) and 50 toe-touches. Keep your knees soft, and breathe.
And be glad it isn't jumping jacks again. ;)

Ok, I'm not gonna be able to walk out of the office this evening. My calves are SCREAMING! LOL
I have TONS of Denise Austin DVDs and I LOVE her yoga ones. I've never done Rodney Yee but I see his stuff at the store and have been tempted to try it. Do you have a favorite from him that you can recommend? I need some new stuff, I've been using the ones I have now for almost a year.

Oh yeah, and I am SO glad it wasn't jumping jacks....(shudder)

OUCH. I probably should have put my 3 month old (16 lb!) baby down before those calf raises.....

Ahh, I just did calf exercises! But I will do more now, just for you. ;)

I think we should be called "The Big Slicers" since that sounds very cool and hip-hop. And those calf raises were okay for me but the toe-touches? Yowza.

I have not touched my toes since 1986.
You'll have to settle for me touching the air somewhere above my toes.

Hi I have always been interested in trying a yoga video but the ones I looked at previously begining acted like I'd been doing these poses for years. I'm looking for suggestions... My Bday is this sunday If I get a list I might be able to convince hubby to get me one.
aloha

I'm totally commenting for the possibility of Yoga swag. Heh.
Kathy Ireland has an old (probably out of print) video called Breathe that is all stretching and stuff and is rockingly wicked awesome. If anyone is looking for good stuff.

I lied; it's called Reach. http://cgi.ebay.com/KATHY-IRELAND-Exercise-Video-REACH-Stretch-n-Strengthe_W0QQitemZ250092574955QQcategoryZ79760QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Anyways - it's fantastic and nonaerobic but a nice stretching workout. Very relaxing.

"Rockingly wicked awesome"? I'm totally incorporating that phrase into my everyday speech now.

But Jenny, Yoga is HARD for us gals with major squish around their middles!
I can do the calf raises, though. My calves might be the only muscles in my body that are even slightly toned.

Love me some yoga too - ever done the 15 min McDonald's "adult happy meal" one? Love the way I feel when it's all over, but man, getting set up and downstairs and ready to do it is something else!

I'm loving your mini-challenges. We did 10 minutes of "family yoga" from the 10 min solutions dvd last night. it was great, and I think we'll try and do it often. thanks!

I am hot stuff, babeeee. I ( my husband) got my elliptical put together and did ten minutes last night...doesn't seem like much, but I hurt this morning. Still doing the challenge. And the twins thank you for no jumping jacks. They HATE jumping jacks.

Okay, I'm late but I did the calf raises - I kind of like those. The toe touches are good too. I don't know anything about yoga, so I hope you send me a video-thing.
My weigh-in photos 1 and 2 are still stuck in the camera, but I'm trying to get them to you. Haven't lost any weight yet, but at least you've got me exercising more and thinking about my food choices. It's all progress!
