Oh, Great.

Well, I've been journaling my food today:

Breakfast - 1 tall pumpkin spice latte on the run to the pumpkin patch with the preschool.  360 calories
Lunch - Chopped pecan chicken leftover from dinner over a bed of lettuce, with 1 cup cubed sweet potatoes.  460 calories

So far, so good, right?

But then I picked the kids up from school and they were starving, so we dropped by KFC for some popcorn chicken before gymnastics.  I ate a handful of the stuff.  I estimate 200 calories worth.

I also ate four strawberries (25 calories), a 6 oz glass of orange juice (113 calories) and three bottles of water.

This is why I loathe counting calories.  And also, likely why I'm not losing weight.  I'm at 1200 calories before I even add in dinner.  I'm having a cup of soup and small salad.  And water.

Damn snacks.  I didn't need the KFC - I was full from lunch.  The Pumpkin Spice Latte?  Total waste of calories.

I hate journaling.  I hate paying attention.  But apparently, I'm not "as good" as I think I am.  So I'll continue to jot down every bite that crosses my lips for the next week.

According to Mistress Krista - in order to reduce my over-all weight, I am going to have to consume around 1500 calories a day, max.  That means I really really really need to eliminate the crap, and focus on eating the foods that make the most sense for my goals.

Real foods.  Natural foods.  In moderation.

When I go to Starbucks, I always ask for my Chai Latte to be Nonfat -this saves calories/fat and I still get to enjoy my drink! (and it has protein too)

A tall Nonfat Pumpkin Spice is 220 calories, and 0 grams Fat... that's 140 calories saved for later in the day!

I was just coming over here to suggest the lighter version of the PSL, but you beat me to it. :-)

Have you visited fitday.com yet? It's the only regular calorie counting log that I used on a regular basis.

It has nutritional information already in it for lots of different foods. But my favorite part was that you can enter the information on things you eat all the time, and it saves them for you.

You log in what you eat as you go, and it adds up all the calories and nutritional information for you, which was a godsend for a Goddess who is not so strong with the math.

Check it out!

I like the food tracker at sparkpeople.com. It gives a handy pie chart of where your calories are coming from and where then should come from. You can also add in other vitamin/minerals you want to track. I always like to keep an eye on my iron.

and before I forget - death to those damn pumpkin latte things

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are worth it. As are Pumpkin Shakes at Jack in the Hut and Pumpkin Pancakes at IHOP. (But then my exercise bike and/or treadmill gets quite a welcome.)

Aaaahh, but how I love pumpkin!

PSL LATTE'S ARE BACK! I saw them and almost called you.
