Winners, All Around!

After giggling myself silly over all your wonderful haikus, I've chosen a few favorites to single out:

Mir -  I almost snarfed my juice when I read this one.  Mir wins a $5 Target card!

Pre-baby ass, gone?
Oh, my mistake. There it is!
Right behind my knees.

Ginny -  Now, this is devotion.  I would almost pay to see that.  Almost.  But I'm nicer than that.  Ginny wins a $5 gift card, too!

Oh, Big Slice panties
I'd wear you outside my clothes,
I love you that much

Elaine - manages to express the clever brainwork of a dieting mind, and also evoke the Stealers Wheel classic - 'Stuck in the middle with you' - Elaine is another $5 gift card winner!

Cupcakes to the left
of me, salad to the right.
Ambidextrous?

HG -  Girl, all I have to say is amen.  Amen, amen, amen.  HG is our final gift card winner for the Big Slice Haiku challenge!

Osmosis. That is
how those dam-ned videos
should work. From my shelf

I've got a little something for all my haiku participants - watch for an email from me!

As to my own winning...

I lost a(nother) pound.  I am 177 pounds!  Wooooo!

I feel like I've been a rogue agent, because somehow I've managed to fill my computer's memory entirely, and it won't allow me to download the photos from my camera to prove that I'm holding true to my promise to photograph all my meals.  I swear, I haven't gone dark.  I'm still part of the team.  I'm just undercover is all.  I'll be figuring all THAT out today and getting those pictures up.

I've been also making good on my promise to exercise for one hour daily, although yesterday, my second half-hour came in the form of pushing a grocery cart around Trader Joe's.  With 110 pounds of kids in the basket.  Plus groceries.  Lots of healthy groceries.

By simplifying my menu this week - the cost of food came down quite a bit.  I'm getting ready to throw myself on the mercy of our ClubMom blogger financial guru, Amanda over at The Naked Ledger to help me get my household budget in order.  Have you guys checked her out yet?  She gives fantastic advice and information - go say hello, and tell her I sent you!

Melissa Wiley, over at The Lilting House is doing fantastic on her decluttering Month of Motivation - she's making me want to pull out some garbage bags and get to work!

This is Day Three - let's hear how you guys are doing!  Sticking with your goals?  Do you need some encouragement?  A boot in the butt?

Here's our next contest:
From today until Monday, we are going to stick with the plan like glue.  Take a look at those guidelines you set out for yourself, or jump in and declare yourself in the comments to this entry.  Then set a short term goal.

Mine - I will lose two pounds by Monday, July 5th.

We'll do this on the honor system, but if you'd like to take before and after pictures of your toes on your scale, or of your closet before and after cleaning, or whatever your goal, that would be fun, too.

Let's do this!

Shit. In all my moving, I missed the contest.

And I think you need to do Yoga. Get out Pantyman Yee and stretch baby.

WOOOHOOO!

Hey! No fair! Mir flooded the ballot box!

Whoops, I said flood. As in her basement. She will be killing me at BlogHer - with haikus!

Congrats to all the winners. Jenny, way to build community with ancient Japanese poetic form.

All of the haikus (is that the proper way to pluralize it?) were awesome.

I hereby vow to run every day.
Between now and Monday.

And eat more veg and fruit, and drink more water.

I hate having to do this.

Ohhhhh Grace. Grace, Grace, Grace! You can only make up that grievous transgression, now, by showering me with avocados in California. Then I shall forgive you, while I eat myself into a stupor.

I'm very excited to have won, Jenny. Although I must tell you--Chickadee is pouting, now, BOTH because my haiku about her was not the winner, and because I'm getting "a dumb gift card instead of those funny Big Slice panties!" Heeeeeeee.

So I write about Big Slice panties on my head and NOTHING? I am so not going to wear them on my head now.

I wasn't really going to wear them outside my clothes, either. Do I still win? And congrats Jen on another pound! Woo hoo!

Since I caved today and ate a piece of bittersweet chocolate from the Italian deli, I think I'm disqualified already. I have a different goal for myself and it involves my hair. I live in St. Louis, where the humidity is horrible all summer. I'm sick of leaving the house every day looking like a troll doll, so I bought the "Curly Girl" book and I'm going to try her methods until Monday. That means no shampoo, just rinsing with water and conditioner and releasing my hair's natural curl. We'll see about that. Today is day one, and I'm posting pics on my Flickr page.

Ok...so far this week I have done really well with my exercise and diet. I splurged last night and had one lite beer. It was needed after the bootcamp workout. Woowee...I was pooped. I didn't think that knee caps could sweat. LOL. I'm hoping for a 2 pound loss by the time I do my weigh in on Saturday.

Will it be 2 pounds by Monday, July 3rd or 2 pounds by Wednesday, July 5? (Here's your chance to give yourself 2 extra days, although there IS a holiday in there.)

Weeeee!

OK... what am I gonna pledge? Undying love and gratitude to my devoted fans? Wait, I don't have any of those.

How about a promise to pay attention to portion size? I think I can swing that!

I suck. Here I promised not to eat any snacks and to eat protein with every meal and I didn't even last ONE day. I get hungry every three hours! So there goes that plan. Instead I think I'll go with what Elaine promised and just pay more attention to my portion size and maybe even my total daily calorie intake.

But this is not a diet, just to be clear. I am ANTI ANTI diet!

Congrats on that weight loss!

Congrats on the pound REMOVED Jenny (not lost, cause you're not looking to find it ever again!).

I pledge to workout twice by July 5th...spinning class Friday night and eliptical on Sunday. There, I've typed it and now I have to do it.

Salt and Vinegar chips. There, I've typed it and now I have to eat them.

Yeah the portion size thing sounds good to me too. My walking partner is cheating on me with a taut 18 year old (who doesn't need to be walking in the first place!!), so I'll break out the Leslie Sansone in-the-AC-walking DVD tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.

So, yeah. Well, as we're supposed to give updates, here's mine. I'm up 2 pounds this week, which is to be expected (33 weeks today!). So.... my goal is to try to get out more. When I exercise at home, I usually get so bored that I don't get my whole hour in, so I'm gonna find some outdoor activities to do. Like this weekend, when I went to the lake and did nothing but burn my boobs. Very nice.

I'm a big believer in not weighing myself anymore than once per week. I've even taken the scale, put it out of site and in a hard to reach spot so that I'm not tempted to "over-weigh" myself. That said, I plan to weight myself on Saturday morning - my new, new, new weigh-in day. So, my weekend challenge will be not to lose XX amount of pounds but to go for a 30 min. (at least) power walk on both Saturday and Sunday (and hopefully continue throughout the week).

I'm too weak to give up the junk food. I am not going to drink any soda between now and Monday - only water for me.

I am in! My goal is to not say, "how many times do I have to tell you..." to any of my children. Or my husband. Wait, just my children, I won't be able to fight the urge to say it to my husband.

Get involved in home events, ignore the computer for a day or three, and miss out on the fun! Boo! My goal: check in here more often. THAT one I can do.

I'm doing well with the daily activity, in fact, but we had a birthday party here on Thursday. Pizza and jellybeans and chips and lemonade and Smarties... sigh...

But today's a new day!
